What JobRecon Is
JobRecon gives you actual data about civilian careers — salary ranges, job market depth, funded credentials, and AI-analyzed matches that explain why your MOS qualifies you, not just that it does.
It runs on the TIE Platform (Transition Intelligence Engine): DoD crosswalk data, government wage data, and O*NET occupational profiles. The methodology is documented. The sources are cited.
The Problem We Solve
Every year, 200,000 service members transition to civilian life. Most of them get a PowerPoint in TAP and a handshake.
A 25B could qualify for network engineering, cybersecurity, IT support, systems administration, or cloud infrastructure roles. Most 25Bs leave without knowing that — or what each one pays.
JobRecon shows the full list with salary data attached. The trade-offs are yours to decide. The data shouldn't be a mystery.
JobRecon eliminates the guesswork by showing you
- Which civilian careers map to your MOS — and the confidence score behind each match
- Why each career fits your background, not just that it does (AI-generated and labeled as such)
- Government salary data by percentile, metro area, and role
- Live federal and private sector openings, side by side
- Skills gaps to close before you apply
- Branch-funded certifications available through COOL (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line) — some expire at separation
100% Free, Always
JobRecon is 100% free — no paywalls, no subscriptions. Funded through sponsorships from employers, training providers, and organizations that support the veteran community. Sponsored content is always labeled. We don't sell your data.

How This Works
Operation Tango's philosophy: Help people make better decisions, not feel better about bad ones.
What This Means:
- We show you real data, not aspirational marketing
- We acknowledge limitations and uncertainties
- We cite our sources and update dates
- We don't hide inconvenient truths behind paywalls
Data Governance:
Every record in the TIE Platform has:
- Documented data source and lineage
- Known freshness and update schedule
- Quality controls and validation checks
- 100% compliance with federal data use agreements
No Opinions, Just Evidence:
We don't tell you what to do. We give you the data to make informed decisions for yourself and your family.
Built by Someone Who's Been There:
Operation Tango's founder is a retired Army veteran and current military spouse who has lived the transition from both sides — first navigating the leap from military to civilian career, then watching a spouse face the same uncertainty all over again. Every PCS move, every job search, every "what does my experience translate to?" conversation reinforced the same truth: military families deserve better tools than guesswork and Google. Operation Tango exists because I got tired of waiting for someone else to build them.
Free for Veterans. Full Stop.
JobRecon is 100% free for all veterans, transitioning service members, and military families. No paywalls. No subscriptions. No premium tier.
The tools cost real money to build and run. That cost is covered by organizations that want to reach the veteran community — employers actively recruiting veterans, training providers with SkillBridge and civilian programs, credentialing organizations, and mission-aligned nonprofits and foundations that support military families.
None of that changes what you see. Career match data comes from federal sources and is the same regardless of whether a sponsor is present. When sponsored content appears — a job listing, a training program, a certification pathway — it is labeled "Sponsored" at the point of display. Organic results and sponsored results are never mixed without disclosure.
We may earn a referral fee when you apply or enroll through a partner link. That fee is paid by the partner, not by you.
We don't sell your data. We don't share your information with sponsors. Your transition is your business.
