1. Information We Collect
JobRecon is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect minimal information necessary to provide the Service:
Session Information
- Anonymous session UUID (temporary identifier)
- Browser type and version
- Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop)
- Operating system
Usage Analytics
- Pages viewed and features used (anonymized)
- Search queries (MOC codes, job titles)
- Time spent on pages (aggregate data)
- Referral source (how you found JobRecon)
Technical Data
- IP address (anonymized, retained for 24 hours for rate limiting)
- Error logs and crash reports (no PII)
- Performance metrics (page load times)

The limited information we collect is used solely to:
- Provide and maintain the JobRecon Service
- Generate career recommendations and salary comparisons
- Aggregate job listings from public sources
- Improve Service performance and user experience
- Detect and prevent technical errors or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations (subpoenas, court orders)

JobRecon integrates with the following third-party services to deliver functionality:

Note: AI-powered career recommendations are pre-generated and cached. Your specific searches are not sent to Anthropic in real-time.
Affiliate Partners: When you click an affiliate link (such as a Coursera course recommendation), the affiliate partner may set cookies on your device to track whether you enroll or make a purchase. These cookies are set by the affiliate partner, not by JobRecon. We do not control the data collected by affiliate partners after you leave our site. Please review each partner's privacy policy for details. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more information.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
JobRecon does not set first-party cookies. We use browser localStorage for essential functionality. However, affiliate partner links (such as Coursera) may set third-party cookies on your device for enrollment attribution.

You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser settings. This will reset your preferences but will not affect core Service functionality.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Affiliate Attribution: When you click an affiliate link on JobRecon, we share limited click data (timestamp, page of origin, and a non-identifying referral code) with the affiliate partner for commission attribution. This data does not include your name, email, military status, or any personally identifiable information. Affiliate partners may independently collect data through their own cookies and tracking after you leave JobRecon.
We may share anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., "5,000 users searched for IT jobs this month") with:
- Veteran service organizations (VSOs) for research purposes
- Government agencies requesting de-identified transition trends
- Academic researchers studying veteran employment (IRB-approved studies only)
We will disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt-out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell data)
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
Good news: Because JobRecon does not collect personally identifiable information (PII), your CCPA rights are satisfied by default. There is no personal data to request, delete, or opt-out from.
8. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have rights under GDPR including:
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to rectification (correction)
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
Good news: JobRecon does not process personal data that would trigger full GDPR obligations. Anonymous session data is not considered personal data under GDPR. If you contact us via email, those communications are governed by GDPR and you may request deletion at any time.
9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
JobRecon is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@operationtango.com and we will promptly investigate and delete such information.
10. Data Retention
We retain data for the following periods:
Local Storage Data
Retained until you clear your browser cache or uninstall the PWA
Server-Side Analytics
Anonymized usage data retained for 24 months, then permanently deleted
Email Communications
Support emails retained for 90 days unless you request deletion
Error Logs
Technical logs retained for 30 days for debugging, then automatically purged
